Mid-Ohio Food Collective Gets the Win!
Michigan State and Penn State have the distinction of being the first two land grant institutions in the United States. Both were founded in February 1855, Michigan State on the 12th and Penn State on the 22nd. When their football teams meet on the field, they compete for the Land Grant Trophy.
Central Ohio is home to several thousand Michigan State and Penn State graduates. The alumni chapters of both schools held a joint game watch on November 15 at O’Nelly’s in Lewis Center, Ohio. The game watch was also a friendly competition between the schools in the form of a food drive.
The alumni were asked to bring a food item for the benefit of the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. The Spartans and Nittany Lions donated over 320 items. While Penn State prevailed on the football field, Michigan State, by a slight margin, won the battle for most items contributed.
Michigan State and Penn State Alumni are proud to support our Central Ohio neighbors. Thank you to all the alumni who contributed to this great event! Thank you, O’Nelly’s, for hosting us!
