Tailgate Party and Silent Auction!
The
2009 Annual Holiday Party was held on Saturday, December 5 at 7:00 pm in
Suite 100 of the Summit Chase. Thanks to Ken and Jeff who once again hosted a lovely party. We enjoyed a relaxing meal with delicious food and good company before heading to the other room for the infamous white elephant gift exchange. This year the most sought after gifts were wine, beer and homemade cheesecake! The gifts proved yet again that one person's white elephant is another person's treasure! In addition, we collected lots of toys for Toys for Tots! We all had a great time celebrating the holidays with our Penn State family.

We had another great turnout at BW3 for the Penn State/Michigan game! We also had a huge surprise when we were joined by 14 PSU students who were in town for the weekend canning for THON! It was like bringing a bit of the university to us. We enjoyed talking to them and they appreciated finding Penn State fans to watch the game with. They said they were overwhelmed by all the scarlet and gray they saw in Columbus and were glad to see folks in blue and white!Football: Penn State 20 - Minnesota 0
Even though BW3 was pretty quiet after the OSU loss, we had a great turnout at BW3 for the Penn State/Minnesota game! It was good to see so many familiar faces. With all of the snow in State College, it was one time that we were probably glad that we weren't at the game.
Football: Penn State 52 - Eastern Illinois 3
We had another small turnout at BW3 for the Penn State/Eastern Illinois game. Perhaps it was the non-conference game that kept fans at home. Whatever it was, we won and are looking forward to getting back on track against other Big Ten teams.
Door prizes included a Penn State mug, a Penn State bottle opener (that played the Penn State fight song) and a Nittany Lion Pumpkin carving kit, perfect for Halloween! Thanks to all that came down and helped cheer on our Lions! Special thanks to Emma and Mara for leading us in our "We Are" cheers!

We had a small turnout at BW3 for the Penn State/Illinois game. We attributed it to an Iowa hangover. However, we won and are now back on track. Door prizes included a Penn State T-shirt sized just right for one of our future Penn Staters and a Nittany Lion Pumpkin carving kit, just in time for Halloween! Thank you to all that came down and helped cheer on our Lions! And a special thanks to Jacob for leading us in our "We Are" cheers!

Well it looks like the Lions are off to a good start after beating Akron 31-7 on September 5th! We managed to take over one side of BW3 and let all of the OSU fans know we are there to stay! Once again, we have confirmed with management that we will be guaranteed a big screen TV every week for the PSU games.
BW3 was very happy to hear about
our Toys for Tots idea as they are participating in the program as well.
We raffled two prizes at half time, a hooded PSU sweat shirt and a T-shirt from the Football Hall of Fame with a tribute to Joe Pa's induction. Thank you to Jacob for leading us in our "We Are" cheers--you do it so much better than Mara does :)

Komen Columbus Race for the Cure
I joined the 45,000 other runners and walkers at the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure on Saturday, May 16th. The sky was overcast and in spite of some drizzles, the rain held off.We set a goal on the web site of $250 in donations and I'm thrilled to say that we surpassed that with $258. Thanks to everyone that donated! Those donations are used to Save Lives and End Breast Cancer forever. This was the first year that our group had a team so we hope that we can grow the team in the future and increase our donations for this worthy cause.

With the support of some beautiful weather, a group of Penn State alumni enjoyed an incredible tour of Channel 4 from PSU graduate, Ben Gelber (PSU ‘78) on Sunday, July 27th from 6:45 to 8:00. In addition to the weather room, we toured the main set and control room. We were also able to see what we looked like on camera in front of the “green” screen in the weather room.
We then watched a short video that Channel 4 made for Ben back in 1994 when
It was a fun and informative tour and we learned that being a weatherman isn’t as easy as it looks!

Tailgate at the Clipper’s Game
In spite of the rain and hot weather, 10 PSU Alumni, family and friends enjoyed a BBQ tailgate before the Clipper’s game on July 12 at 5:30 pm in the back of lot #1. The rain held off until everyone had finished eating and then caused the baseball game to be delayed. When the rain stopped we were treated to a beautiful double rainbow. Due to the delay none of us actually stayed for the game. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees 4,
